Married couple Martha (Marty) and Leonard (Len) are stressed out from their jobs and nervous about starting a family in their mid-30s. Marty, an architect, has landed a dream gig to write an article about a new, modern cabin in the remote woods, where Len mostly misses his TV. In between their adjusting to cabin life and trying to start that family, their neighbour Lowell comes barrelling into their life after being retired and alone for two years. Will they be able to handle this added complication? And what other snags will pop up for all three during the week they are together?
